Higher Education Without Borders

We believe every student, regardless of their zip code or background, deserves the opportunity to pursue and complete a college degree. As rising costs and other barriers put higher education out of reach for too many New Jerseyans, we’re fighting to fulfill the promise of New Jersey’s College Promise through bold investments in students and public higher education.

Together, we can remove barriers, expand opportunity and build a stronger future for New Jersey.

As we work toward a more accessible and equitable higher education system in New Jersey, we are advocating for two critical first steps that will reduce barriers to college access and help students stay on track when challenges arise.

Creating Automatic Admissions at Community Colleges (A5049 / S4128)

This legislation will require community colleges to notify all graduating high school seniors in their region of their automatic acceptance. By simplifying the transition from high school to college, this policy will remove unnecessary barriers to the application process, expand access to higher education, and ensure that more students have a clear pathway to continue their education.

Establishing the New Jersey Student Emergency Aid Program (A5382 / S4127)

This legislation will create the New Jersey Emergency Aid Program to provide grants to undergraduate students at New Jersey’s public colleges who face unexpected financial hardships. These grants will help students cover essential expenses—including housing, food, transportation, and childcare—so that temporary financial challenges do not interrupt their education or force them to leave college before completing their goals.
