In December, 2019, as a result of relentless advocacy from the Institute and its partners – including people with criminal convictions whose votes had been taken from them – New Jersey passed a law restoring the vote to 83,000 people on probation and parole.
In the July primary election, some of those people voted for the first time since the law was passed – and some for the first time ever.
Now we must encourage all people impacted by this law to register and vote in upcoming elections!
Our vote is our voice in a democracy.
Watch these short videos to hear from some of the people who got their voices back about why this is so important to them.
