Program Associate

Melissa Smith is the Program Associate at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice.

Prior to joining the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice as a Program Associate, Melissa excelled as a Contracts Administrator, demonstrating her ability to maintain organized and compliant electronic files while coordinating administrative processes. Additionally, her experience as an Advocacy Fellow at the Association of American Educators Foundation allowed her to focus on social justice in American classrooms, showcasing her op-ed writing skills as a published author in The 74 Million publication, as well as policy brief development.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Rutgers University School of Public Affairs & Administration. Melissa’s dedication to education and advocacy is highlighted by her Advocacy Fellowship with the Association of American Educators Foundation in Washington, D.C.
